Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

So to start this isn’t my typical genre. I normally gravitate towards Epic Fantasy, Thriller, Horror, YA, etc. So YA Contemporary isn’t top of my list. But every now and again I get in the mood where I need a good emotional pick me up so I started this one. I was able to listen to this audiobook via the Libby application through my local library.πŸ“šπŸŽ§

Simon Spier is a 16 year old drama student in high school. He’s currently emailing a love interest who happens to be a boy. Granted both of them are using aliases and know very little that will give away each other’s identity. Very much a closeted encounter. When Simon accidentally leaves himself logged in to the library computer and Martin the class clown sees his deepest secrets, trouble brews. Facing blackmail Simon faces a lot of challenges that takes him on a journey through self discovery. ✌️

I thought this was fantastic! I loved it so much and I read it at the perfect time when I needed a feel good story. I was hooked from chapter one and really connected with Simon and his struggles as many of my childhood friends had similar situations.β™₯️
